Although many suffer from sinusitis, only a few see a doctor about it. Sinusitis brings pain to the nose and forehead area of the face when the paranasal sinuses are swollen. There are lots of people who choose not to go to a doctor when having sinusitis attack to avoid costly prescriptions and surgery.

It is highly recommended that you see a doctor before self-medicating, but there are still things that you can try to help heal your condition. Natural home remedies are not only easily accessible and cheap, they are also proven effective in reducing the pain.

Assessing your diet should be the first thing that you should consider doing. Certain foods create more mucus, which worsen your sinusitis. The foods you should avoid when you are suffering from the condition are chocolate, sugar, dairy products, eggs, and fried and fatty foods.

To clear your sinuses, there are some foods that you can take, including ginger, fish, horseradish, pineapples, salads, fish and garlic.

Eating and drinking foods that are rich in vitamins A and C help fight sinusitis. Vitamin A dilutes mucus, which allows your sinuses to drain easily and clear out. Vitamin C improves your immune system and also cut allergic reactions. Examples of foods that are rich in those vitamins are green, leafy vegetables as well as juices such as carrots, lemon and lime.

Have medicated vapor rubs available within your reach all the time. Apply them around your nose during night time. They give instant relief when having nasal congestion.

It has been learned that a great number of people who have chronic sinusitis also have environmental allergic reactions. Therefore, it is just smart to avoid cigarette smoke, traffic fumes, chemicals, and dust mites as much as you can.

Take a lot of water. Another way to clean your sinuses is by taking at least eight to ten glasses of water every day. Taking hot herbal teas can likewise work wonders.

Natural home cures are not just good in fighting sinusitis, they are also beneficial health-wise. But if the condition and pain continues, see a doctor.

It’s fine to bar your girlfriend’s nagging voice from time to time, but you may have a problem that needs to be dealt with if you are completely incapable of hearing it. You may wish to increase the volume of your TV or your stereo, but don’t persuade yourself that you don’t have a problem if you can’t hear anything at an average volume. You may be getting permanent loss of hearing. Do something about it before you hit that phase.

For those in the baby boomers generation, or those nearing the retirement age, loss of hearing is not unusual. Studies show that a great percentage of this generation experiences a decrease in their hearing ability. Depending on how critical the situation is or how committed one in doing something about it, hearing loss can be prevented or decreased.

For those in the younger age department, deafness is either obtained during infancy or picked up as they grow up. Teenagers lose their hearing in other means. Some causes include self-inflicting the symptoms on themselves, although unwittingly. Listening to loud music, unhealthy dieting, and poor hygienics are just some of it.

But of course when you already can’t hear anything, you know you have lost your auditory sense. Permanent loss of hearing isn’t obtained right away, though. Unless one acquires it through an accident. Before it becomes absolute, it will give you clues that you are going to experience it.

Hearing stifled sounds is one of the symptoms. Maybe you have trouble hearing your mother lecture you, which is impossible because she shouts each word. If this is simply a one time problem, perhaps you are just having a cold, an ear infection, sinusitis, or other illness. Nevertheless, if you experience this on a recurring basis, this may lead to a permanent hearing loss.

Some people have a habit of turning up the volume of their TV or iPod in an astounding level While it seems inconsequential today, that may not be the case to you. If you believe you increase the volume not because you like it that way or because you just got used to it, then you may be doing it because you need to hear it. Perhaps you already have damaged hearing.

Another identifier is if you have a problem recognizing the main speaking voice from the backdrop noise. This is one of the most identifiable symptoms of loss of hearing. You may be in trouble if you have trouble identifying the voice of the person talking to you from the rest of the room’s noise.

Also, you may be having troubles with your hearing if you hear a constant buzzing sound in your ears. That annoying ringing sound that doesn’t seem to go away when you want it is called tinnitus. A great portion of those who have tinnitus lose their hearing later on.

Don’t delay going to an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor or an otolaryngologist if you are having any of the above symptoms.. Don’t let the situation worsen. Your condition may still be saved if you go to the doctor as soon as possible. In any case, an ENT physician would know the best way to avert or cure loss of hearing. Note that not all are treatable or even preventable, but with the use of hearing aids and other technology, you can rest assure that you won’t be completely left in silence.

Lasts longer than PowerOne for my CI

Review Date: May 26, 2010
Reviewer: Kenneth Lipson,
I've been using these batteries now for about 3 months. Bought 1 pack of 60 just to see what they were like since they seemed so much cheaper. I still had some PowerOne CI batteries so I alternated every other time betw'n the PO & these ZeniPowers for 2-3 weeks. Even wrote down the times... I was hoping they'd be at least somewhat close in longevity to the PowerOnes, but in every comparison, the Zeni's actually lasted at least 4 hrs. longer. Totally surprised, especially considering they are so much less expensive. BTW, I bought mine from Batteries & Chargers and it shipped promptly both times I have ordered.

Hearing Dogs: Mans Best Friend

We’ve all seen guide dogs for the blind while were out and about and they prove invaluable to those who are visually impaired. But, did you know there is also such a thing as hearing dogs for deaf people?

Hearing dogs remove some of the isolation that those who cannot hear faced in their day to day life, and allow them to live with a greater degree of independence, as well as staying safe when in the home and out and about.

In the home a hearing dog will listen for an alarm clock going off and then wake their owner (who is called the recipient), alert them when there is someone at the door, or ‘tell’ them that the phone is ringing. In these types of situation the dog will first alert the recipient by touching them with their paw. The recipient will then ask the dog ‘what is it?’ or something similar and the dog will lead them to whatever is making the sound; the phone, the door, the microwave etc.

The procedure is slightly different when there is danger afoot, as after getting the recipients attention the dog will lie on the ground, and this is the sign that the recipient understands as danger. The recipient will then act accordingly getting themselves, and the hearing dog, to safety.

Once a dog is chosen to be trained as a hearing dog, they begin a training programme so that they are able to help their eventual recipient as much as possible. This training process includes an intense four month soundwork portion where conditioning exercises are used to encourage the dogs to respond to specific sounds in particular ways. The dogs are encourage to see hearing the sounds and alerting a human as a fun exercise, so they feel it is a treat and enjoy the reaction they get from the recipient.

Once the dog is successfully trained they are introduced to their new home and start to form the partnership with their recipient. Their training is ongoing and often, as the dogs enjoy alerting the recipients to sounds, they learn more sounds for themselves.

Ear damage, can completely change an individuals life and if you have suffered deafness as a result of working in a loud job then you may have a case to make a hearing loss claim.

nice product.

Review Date: January 25, 2010
Reviewer: jtaka1,
I use this when I do my yard (mow and edge with a string trimmer). It's more than sufficient. It's more comfortable than the ear muff style ones and after you're done, just toss them and grab a new pair next time.
Oh yeah, I used them on the air plane as well and they work great.
As for sleeping, i don't use them but my wife used them a few times and said the same thing as the other reviewer did, they stick out too much. So if you're sleeping on your side, you can only put it in on the side not against the pillow.
Very disappointed

I've made it a habit of wearing ear plugs to sleep ever since college (8 years ago) so I've been through a lot of earplugs over the years and these were very disappointing for me personally as they stick out too far and aren't thick enough for my ears. I've honestly never run into this problem with disposables which are typically all the same size...
The earplugs don't work at all.

Review Date: January 27, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous, USA
These earplugs are useless. I could not tell a difference in sound when they were in.

I first tried them when trying to sleep in a motel, when there was a noisy conversation in the room next door. They blocked no sound at all. I put in a different pair of foam earplugs, and it blocked the conversation completely. I was using them properly.

The next time I tried them was when I was on a noisy bus. Again, they blocked no sound at all. The noise was the same with them in or out. Again, I tired my old foam plugs, and they made a considerable difference in the sound level.

I've been using various foam earplugs for years, so I know how to use them correctly. These just plain don't work. I think the problem is is that they are too soft.
